As Council President, my primary role is to serve as a liaison between the Council, the Congregation and the Church Staff, communicating important updates and representing the Council in various church functions.
Council Vice President & Pastoral Support
Erin DeGroot – edegroot20@gmail.com
The Pastoral Support Committee serves as a support system for the pastor(s) and a bridge for healthy communication between the pastor, staff, and congregation. It functions in an advisory and advocacy role, helping to foster spiritual health and unity in the church. Built on trust, acceptance, and confidentiality, this committee plays a key role in the pastor’s well-being and the church’s overall health.
Parish Education

The Parish Education Committee is responsible for overseeing Sunday School and Vacation Bible School instruction for school-aged students in the parish. The head of the Parish Ed Committee works closely with the Parish Education Coordinator and Pastor Stuart to plan and staff the program for the year. We also have an active church library, so the Parish Ed Committee works with the church librarian to discuss resources and other needs to continue providing books and DVDs for checkout to our parishioners. The Parish Ed Committee also encourages expanding learning opportunities within the church, such as a youth group or additional adult or family ministry events.
Staffing

The staffing committee is charged with ensuring that a qualified and dedicated staff works as a team to support the needs of the congregation. Responsibilities are to:
- Collaborate with other staff and council members in the hiring of church personnel.
- Develop new and modify current job descriptions as needed.
- Research and propose salary structures.
- Coordinate, manage and review annual personnel evaluations to include professional growth and improvement strategies as needed.
- Develop and oversee the revisions to policies and procedures.
- Act as a mediator in staff issues when necessary.
Ministry & Financial Support
Dennis Schwenke – schwenke68@gmail.com
- Ministry support encompasses financial stewardship of regular donations, fundraising and other forms of financial responsibilities to cover Church operations and outreach programs.
- It also promotes activities aimed at supporting our mission of “We are here to share God’s Love”. This can be done through offering time and skills to assist with congregation tasks and our ministry.
Building & Grounds

The building and ground committee is responsible for coordinating with staff and council the recommended priorities for building and ground improvements, needed repairs, or remodeling for the Church building and its surrounding property. New members are always welcome – especially if you have knowledge or experience in construction, landscaping and maintenance, repairs, and supply (MRO).
Secretary and Life & Growth

The purpose of the Life & Growth Committee is to plan and present activities and events that encourage a sense of fellowship and community within the congregation, their families and the community at large. Committees under the umbrella of Life & Growth are; Full Circle and Men @ Peace (which offer outreach service opportunities), Pathways to Peace (a new ministry that brings fellowship to our homebound members), Piece by Peace Quilters, Katie’s Circle, funeral lunches, annual church picnic, Thanksgiving Eve “pie night” and Sunday morning coffee and donuts. Life & Growth provides growth in our faith and helps strengthen fellowship among congregation members both spiritually and socially while offering a way to “Share God’s Love.”
Treasurer and Worship Committee
Deb Bohm – deb@peacelc.org
Church Treasurer, Deb Bohm, will oversee the Worship Committee. Worship committee is responsible for decorating the church for special occasions, changing banners for the seasons, helping set up for communion, and music for the services.
